Tungsten Stampede Chromexcel in single horsefront hides – Stampede is produced on a buffed grain Chromexcel crust, giving the leather a soft matte appearance.
These are ‘upcycled’ sides which means we have taken these sides and added a wax finish to create a new and slightly different leather from its original version.
Second run hides, some may have defects ranging from: incorrect color, holes, loose break, tannery swatch cuts, etc.

It’s objectively just black, definitely not what’s pictured. It also has nowhere near the character the leather shows in the pictures. It’s a deep black that hides most of the leather character. I did check the tags to ensure that they didn’t send me black by accident. I’m definitely disappointed but the leather itself is great quality and a joy to work with. It’s not quite as waxy/oily as chromexcel but still very smooth. The dye doesn’t reach the middle of the cross-section, which isn’t good or bad. There is quite a bit of scaring, scuffing, and blemishes but that was to be expected. It’s my first time working with this horse leather and it’s fairly interesting. The leather willingly bends but it doesn’t want to stretch/ compress/ mold like most leathers I’ve worked with leather. I would consider it firm. I would return it if I had the time just because it’s not what I was looking for but overall it’s great leather at a great price and I would recommend it. I just wish the listing was more accurate.

Thanks for the review Kolton. We are updating the pictures for this leather. The current ones are from an older batch where the color was not quite right. Sorry for any confusion. We are glad you are happy with the quality of the leather though.

Great value, varying shades of dark grey between hides. They’re pretty stiff and some have an oily residue on them probably left over for the re-tanning process but for the price I can’t complain 0
