Dark brown in color, the Black Hawk Latigo is a great option for latigos, belts, straps and other heavy duty goods. Black Hawk will have a similar feel to the Illini Latigo.
Horween’s Latigo leathers are produced in a heavy vegetable retan (chrome tanned first, vegetable tanned second). These latigos are lightly hot stuffed with a mix of wax and tallows; creating a solid hide that is characterized by a beautiful tight grain.
Second run hides; some may have defects ranging from: incorrect color, holes, loose break, tannery swatch cuts, etc. Many times, we have also created our own color names for these hides. These should not be referenced to identify any leathers not sold here at Maverick.
